Thomas D. Gotowka says
Looking at the national data, I am very troubled with the October 1st report that the United States has reached a shocking milestone, 700,000 COVID deaths. Johns Hopkins reports that it took less than four months to go from 600,000 to 700,000 deaths. Incredibly, an estimated 70 million eligible Americans remain unvaccinated, and it’s that group that is driving the rampant spread of the virus.
To put this in perspective, and I hate this type of comparison, it’s like wiping out more than the entire population of Boston (est. 692,000).
I am glad that CT leadership has addressed this public health catastrophe as an extraordinary threat. However, we do not yet know what the late fall and winter months will bring; so, it remains prudent to continue to wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status; avoid dense crowds; and get the children vaccinated, when our public health professionals “give us the nod”.
