AREAWIDE — Justin Anderson has defeated Tom Gilmer to become the Republican nominee for the 2nd Congressional District, winning by a narrow 81-vote margin after a recount.
Anderson received 9,483 votes to Gilmer’s 9,402, the secretary of the state’s website showed at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, with 100% of precincts reporting.

We are very pleased that this issue has been resolved, and that there is now a GOP candidate on the ballot not facing felony charges. We don’t think that it will impact our decisions, but there’s already enough nastiness and innuendo surrounding November third, that we don’t also need to be distracted by a video showing some jerk attacking a defenseless woman.
