UPDATE 10:00pm: Warriors win 30:12 over Berlin!  Now the boys advance to the semi-final Monday, Dec. 5, at Valley Regional High School against Saint Joseph.

Tonight at 6:30 p.m. on their home field at Deep River, the Valley/Old Lyme Warriors face Berlin in the quarter-finals of the CIAC Class M football championship. The Warriors are the top seeds in the contest but Berlin’s Redcoats will be no push-over according to sports writer Ned Griffen in an article published at this link in The Day yesterday.

Much will ride tonight on the shoulders of Lyme-Old Lyme High School (LOLHS) senior Garrett Burdick, who has been enjoying an exceptional season, especially considering the fact that he had never played football prior to his freshman year.  Moreover, he didn’t even attend LOLHS for his first two years of high school and so had to sit out his early games last season to comply with CIAC transfer regulations.

Ned Griffen wrote a comprehensive article at this link highlighting Burdick’s remarkable career and major contribution to the Warriors that was published in the Nov. 27 edition of The Day.

Go Warriors!
