In an extraordinary game, which ended with a scoreboard looking more like an NBA affair rather than a high school contest, the Old Lyme Wildcats notched a remarkable 103 points against Hale Ray’s Little Noises – the first time Lyme-Old Lyme High School Athletic Director Rob Roach could recall a team going into three figures in the school gym.
The game was evenly balanced after the first quarter with Old Lyme at 22 points and Hale Ray at 20. The boisterous crowd of spectators had no idea what was coming.
Suddenly Old Lyme found a rhythm that propelled them to a lopsided victory as they scored freely from all corners of the court as well as right under the hoop.
The Little Noises, meanwhile, who continued to play a solid game, were left not fully comprehending what had happened.
Old Lyme retain their second place spot in the Shoreline Conference with this win. They play Portland away on Friday evening.
