‘Cats Face Cougars Tonight in Old Lyme in Shoreline Tournament

February 23, 2013 by admin

The Wildcats will be hoping Matti Fuller pulls off some key three-pointers like this one against Old Saybrook.
The Wildcats will be hoping Matti Fuller pulls off some key three-pointers like this one against Old Saybrook last Monday.

Kirk Kaczor’s varsity team plays in the first round of the Shoreline Tournament tonight at 7 p.m. in the newly-renovated Lyme-Old Lyme High School gym.

Led by senior captains Andrew Tyrol and George Logan, the second-ranked Wildcats meet the seventh-ranked Haddam-Killingworth Cougars for the second time this season.  The previous game ended in a win for Old Lyme, but this one will be no walk-over.

Senior George Logan and junior Danny Chapman will play critical roles in tonight's game.

H-K’s seventh seed is misleading in that, until yesterday, any one of four teams could have been in seventh place, indicating how tight the lower segment of the league ended the regular season.

The Wildcats are hoping for a large crowd of fans tonight to emphasize their home advantage.

The full draw for today’s tournament games is as follows:

No. 8 Morgan at No. 1 Valley Regional

No. 7 Haddam Killingworth at No. 2 Old Lyme

No. 6 East Hampton at No. 3 Cromwell

No. 5 Westbrook at No. 4 Hyde

Go Wildcats!
