Spring Census Job Tests Continue in OL Today The U.S. Census Bureau is now hiring nationwide for the 2010 Census. These temporary, part-time jobs offer good pay ($17 per hour and 50¢ per mile), flexible evening and weekend hours up to 40 hours a week, and a chance to work near home. Portland's Buzzer Beater Signals Season's End The Old Lyme girls exited the state tounament Thursday evening after a devastating loss against Portland. In a low-scoring game, the Wildcats were behind throughout the game drawing level only twice, the second time with 30 seconds left on the clock. With everything to play for, they could only watch as Portland's Lindsey Dionne scored the winning hoop on the buzzer to lift the Highlanders past the Wildcats to 36-34. Read More ... BOE Approves Budget Unanimously Yesterday evening's board of education meeting saw all nine members unanimously approve Superintendent Elizabeth Osga's proposed $29,113,568 budget for the 2010-11 fiscal year. John is Back! Our beloved Peace Corps Volunteer, 80-year-old John Guy LaPlante, has returned home to the US having successfully completed his 27-month stint in Ukraine. We are thrilled that he is now safely back on American soil and commend him for making it through such a challenging assignment. 9 Town Transit Continues Free Bus Fares for Seniors The Estuary Transit District’s 9 Town Transit will continue its popular free senior bus fares with some changes to simplify the program. The free fares are valid on all 9 Town Transit services for travel throughout the Estuary region.
