A la Carte: How to Bake an Election Cake!

November 2, 2020 by Lee White

According to Walter Woodward, PhD, Connecticut’s Historian, years ago there was a Connecticut Election Cake Recipe.  The newer recipe I found, “A Modern Election Cake Recipe,” looks like a half birthday cake, half fruit cake. It calls for yeast, some butter and buttermilk (the latter of my favorite add-ins for all cakes) vanilla, eggs, and so on. Like a fruit cake, you add … [Read more...] about A la Carte: How to Bake an Election Cake!

Letter to the Editor: You Know What’s Scary? Democrats for Who Vote for Carney

November 1, 2020 by Amy Elliott

To the Editor: This letter is in response to this Oct 29 letter written by Karen Palenski. Did you watch Hamilton on Disney+ this summer over Fourth of July weekend as I did, fireworks streaking across the sky in the background? What did you think about? October 30, 2020 by Lorianne Panzara

To the Editor: As a woman voter, I am concerned about the threat to women’s rights. It seems ironic, that we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, a women’s right to vote, and at the same time are at risk of losing ground in so many other ways.
