OLD LYME — Enjoy two days of flowers, plants and more — conveniently timed just ahead of Mother’s Day!
The annual fundraising Spring Plant Sale sponsored by the Duck River Garden Club (DRGC) of Old Lyme and East Lyme will be held Friday, May 9, from 12 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Old Lyme Shopping Center on Hall’s Road (near The Hideaway Restaurant.) Widely regarded locally as a kick-off to the gardening season, it frequently draws large crowds.
Preorder Geraniums
This year the DRGC is once again accepting preorders for their popular geraniums. The plants are $7 each. Orders should be sent to [email protected] by April 28. Pay and pick up for your pre-ordered geraniums on the day of the sale.

- Puritan White
- Becky Fuchsia
- Emily Dark Pink
- Lavender Dot
- Mayflower Salmon
- Madame Langoth – variegated
- Orange Samaritan
- Velma Cox – variegated
Pick out that special gift for Mom or browse the club’s selection of heirloom tomatoes, annuals, and vegetables, herbs, hanging baskets, geraniums, perennials and shrubs that will be available.
Herb collections will be on offer for an instant garden to take home and plant. The DRGC’s ‘Garden Shed’ will feature gently-used items ready for a new home.
A wonderful selection of plants grown by DRGC members plants will also be on sale.
All proceeds from the sale benefit ongoing civic projects, which include scholarships, senior’s garden therapy program, holiday wreaths for public buildings, providing public education programs, and maintenance of plants at town locations.
The DRGC is also hoping to receive donations to replace the stolen birdhouses from their Exit 70 site.
