Ledge Light to Hold Free COVID Vaccine Clinic This Afternoon, Appointment Required

December 10, 2021 by Admin

LYME/OLD LYME — 12/8 UPDATED with new information from LLHD: Ledge Light Health District (LLHD) will host a COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Groton Municipal Building (295 Meridian St.)

LLHD will offer the Moderna and J&J vaccines for 1st, 2nd, and booster shots at no cost to adults 18 years and older.

This COVID Vaccine Clinic is open to all Lyme and Old Lyme residents, but an appointment is required.

The current booster recommendations are:

For individuals who received an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) the following groups are eligible for a booster shot:

  • Severely immunocompromised at 1 month or more after their initial series.
  • Everyone 18+ at 6 months or more after their initial series.

For individuals who received the J&J vaccine, booster shots are recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago.

Mixing & Matching (heterologous series): Both the FDA and CDC support individuals to receive a booster dose that is a different vaccine type than they originally received for their primary series if they choose. CDC’s recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots.

Register for an appointment at this link, visit www.LLHD.org for more information or call 860-448-4882 for assistance and/or questions.

All participants must wear a mask and practice social distancing.

At least 4 Old Lyme residents volunteered at last week’s clinic where we vaccinated upwards of 300 people. It’s quick, practically painless, and very well-organized — just a 15 minute wait after your shot. Don’t be left under-protected! Come get your booster (or 1st or 2nd) vaccine before the holidays, and help keep yourselves and your loved ones safe!
