OLD LYME — The Town of Old Lyme Kindness Committee has selected the second recipient of their monthly Kindness Award.
On Aug. 17, Teddy Anastasiou, owner of Teddy’s Old Lyme Pizza Palace, was presented with an award for his generosity in providing free meals to residents in need during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have been here 40 years, our kids went to school here, I coached soccer here, and I have an appreciation for what the customers do for us, so we have to give back,” said Anastasiou.
He continued, “That’s it. It’s very important. People come in and say thank you for being open through everything, but we need to thank them for helping us stay open. I feel good doing something for the community.”
The Old Lyme Kindness Committee is working to make kindness the norm in the town’s homes, schools, and workplaces. The committee is comprised of 15 members representing the local school system, Lymes’ Youth Services Bureau, Lymes’ Senior Center, the Old Lyme Police Department, Old Lyme Social Services, and other local groups and community members.
