Tonight’s Planning and Zoning Commission’s meeting at 7:30 p.m. in Lyme Town Hall promises to be a lively one. There will be a Public Hearing regarding the request by Sunset Hill Vineyard at 5 Elys Ferry Rd. in Lyme to open for ‘Appointment Only’ tastings from May to October and occasional holidays. The proposed hours of operations are Saturdays from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 4 p.m.
There appears to be some opposition to the proposal as evidenced by an email sent out by Carol Dahlke, owner of Ashlawn Farm Coffee, on Bill Hill Rd. in Lyme.
She writes, “As they [vineyard owners Matt Caruso, Donna Moore, and Matt Caruso’s parents Sal and Maryellen] embark on the opening of the tasting barn, they have been met with some opposition.” Dahlke continues, “My goal is to help them outnumber the opponents and show the town and the Caruso/Moore set that we support their efforts.”
Others will likely be in attendance with an opposing mission.
