Today, Sunday, July 19, Essex Land Trust will host a two-hour, naturalist-led, family paddle in calm waters to allow participants to see abundant wildlife, including an active egret rookery and several purple martin colonies. The trip leaders will recount the human and natural history of this river that was first dammed in the late 1600s and was instrumental in the economic and social development of the local towns.
