This very rare sturgeon (pictured above) was found Saturday on the banks of the Connecticut River near the end of Elys Ferry Road in Lyme. It was about five feet long.
Labelled an endangered species by the Connecticut DEEP, the sea-run population of sturgeon in the Connecticut River is concentrated along the lower part of the River. There is a landlocked population surviving above dams in the upper watershed of the river.

To who ever wrote this. It would be nice if you would say what state it was found in , not just the town.
the connecticut river runs thru many states and several of them have towns named lyme. For instance Lyme NH which also sets on the banks of the connecticut river.

I would be very interested in knowing why this sturgoen died and washed up on the bank of the river. Was it from decease of some kind or old age?

It looks sort of small and very ancient. It looks like it is in armor.
