Enjoy a glimpse into the lives of the people who walked historic Lyme Street a century ago with members of the Old Lyme Historical Society on Saturday, Dec. 7. Costumed guides will transport visitors to the turn of the century on a Walking Tour of Historic Lyme Street.
Meet your guide in front of the Sill House at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts on Lyme Street to begin your free walking tour at 1, 2, or 3 p.m. Carolers from The Nightingales and The Village Voices will accompany each group. Each free walking tour will last approximately 1 ½ hours.
The Historic Walking Tour is just one of many holiday events happening in Old Lyme on Dec. 7 during the Lyme-Old Lyme Chamber of Commerce’s Third Annual Light Up Old Lyme.
Morning events include the Child & Family Agency’s Annual Cookie Walk and LYSB’s Photos with Santa in the Old Lyme Marketplace. Tax Free Day at The Woman’s Exchange is among the seasonal specials on Halls Road.
The Florence Griswold Museum’s The Magic of Christmas, Lyme Academy College’s Tim O’ Brien: Retrospective exhibition and its Student Holiday Show & Sale, Lyme Art Association’s Deck the Walls, Cooley Gallery’s All Paintings Great and Small, and a free exhibit at the Fresh Ayer Gallery on Halls Road will all welcome visitors to Lyme and Old Lyme.
From 1 to 4 p.m., the Chamber has arranged for a horse drawn carriage to offer free rides up and down Lyme Street, adding to the charm of the Light Up Old Lyme celebration.
Additional information on Light Up Old Lyme events can be found on the Chamber website.
