Due to numerous complaints from many parts of town, the Lyme Board of Selectmen has launched a speed limit enforcement campaign, which will be conducted on many local roads with the help of officers from Troop F of the Connecticut State Police. The program will continue for the next month with particular attention being focused on Brush Hill and Mt. Archer Roads, as well as Cove Road, Ely’s Ferry Road and Rte. 156.
The selectmen respectfully ask that residents observe posted limits as a matter of courtesy and respect for fellow townspeople not only driving Lyme roads but also walking, running and biking on them.

May I suggest Bill Hill too for speed enforcement?
Cheryl Ward says
Grassy Hill too!!
Koko Warren says
How do you speed on Bill Hill? Other than from in front of the farm…to curvy and too many humps in the road. Blood St and Town woods down to Old Lyme…and Saunders Hollow to Sill La people go like bats out of hell!
The straight away from top of 156 to the fair grounds…people don’t even slow down by the school/library/town hall!
Bonnie King says
Yes, definitely Grassy Hill Rd !!!
Felix Kloman says
As one who has watched speeds gradually increase along “Elyopolis Speedway” (the eastern straightaway of Ely’s Ferry Road) and commented to our neighbors, I’m disappointed that we had to call on our busy State Police in Westbrook. What we need to do is re-establish old habits, of moving more slowly and admiring our impressive scenery. I now drive my Subaru like my 1921 Model T Ford, my first car in 1951, one that strained to make 35 mph. The fall woolly caterpillars now have a better chance to cross our road!
