Students enter Lyme-Old Lyme High School on the first day of the new academic year watched over by a member of the OLPD.
Students returned to their respective schools in the Lyme-Old Lyme Public School District Wednesday to be greeted not only by welcoming teachers but also, in many cases, newly renovated buildings and a quiet, but watchful, police presence.
Although the high school renovation project is complete except for a handful of items outstanding on the punch list, a new project was begun in the summer at Mile Creek School. All the windows are being replaced there and this project is expected to last through next year.
Meanwhile, a Ribbon Cutting to celebrate the completion of the high school project is currently being planned. Full details of the event will be announced on LymeLine when they are available.
A delighted Superintendent Ian Neviaser told LymeLine, “The first day [of school] was spectacular,” adding, “Students and staff were happy to be back, the buildings and grounds looked great, and the day went off without a hitch.”
He concluded enthusiastically that it was, ” An excellent start to what we expect to be a great year.”
