An informational meeting on developing enhancements to the Sound View District will be held Friday, June 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the Shoreline Community Center on Hartford Ave. in Old Lyme.
Old Lyme has been approved for a grant which covers 80 percent of the total cost for the conceptual project, which was presented to the community earlier in the year. This initial informational meeting is an important step in the process and will be used to review the grant process and answer questions on the grant procedure.
These improvements will connect the Old Lyme community via an on-road bicycle path from Hartford Avenue to the Baldwin Bridge while also including a park and restroom facilities at Sound View as well as providing improved access to the town via an enhanced bus service.
Along with Town officials, representatives from Lower Connecticut River Valley Council of Governments and the Connecticut Department of Transportation will be present to provide a description of the grant process, including the selection of an engineering firm to partner with the Town of Old Lyme.
The entire community is encouraged to attend this important informational meeting.
Town officials believe that improvements to enhance the Town’s natural assets and link the beach community to the remainder of Old Lyme will strengthen the value of the community.
