Lake Wales, FL– Adriana Marsh Lathrop, 75, formerly of Lyme, CT, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 due to heart failure. She was a resident of Lake Wales for fifty-eight years.
She was born November 28, 1937 in New London, daughter of the late Robert Hayden and Diana Marsh Lathrop of Old Lyme, CT. The family lived at Old Black Point, Niantic for many years before moving to Hamburg Cove, Lyme. She went to Niantic Grammar School and finished last two years at Lyme Consolidated. She attended Old Lyme High School and later graduated in 1955 from St. Mary’s-in-the-Mountains, Littleton, NH.
While at Webber College, Babson Park, FL, she met Noel Clyde Jahna and they were wed in Lyme, August, 1956. He died in an accident in 1964. In addition to raising her five daughters, she was employed by E.R. Jahna Industries until her retirement.
In the past few years she took a keen interest in researching and expanding the history of her early New England ancestors who settled in New London County. She maintained a life-long membership in the DAR, belonged to The Society of Mayflower Descendants, and was active in the local Florida chapter of the Colonial Dames. Adriana returned often to visit her parents and old friends in the Lymes.
She is survived by her five daughters, grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her sister, Diana Bouchard of Nashua, NH, brothers Robert Whiton Lathrop of Louisville, CO and Sheldon Marsh Lathrop of Amherst, NH. Predeceasing her were her maternal grandparents, Daniel Sheldon Marsh; Julie Fitch Marsh; Her great-aunt, Cora Adriana Marsh of New London; And her paternal grandfather, Hayden R. Lathrop of Lyme .
