Old Lyme residents can now dispose of their electronics at the Transfer Station in Old Lyme during regular Transfer Station hours.
The Town has contracted with RMG Enterprises, an asset recovery company with facilities in Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island, to collect and dispose of consumer electronics at no cost to the Town.
Old Lyme’s First Selectman Tim Griswold said, “We are pleased that we can offer this new service to residents. They no longer need to collect their used electronics for disposal at quarterly collections at our regional facility in Essex.”
Accepted electronic devices include computers (personal computers, mainframes, mid-range computers, laptops); networking equipment (hubs, switches, control cards, etc.); computer monitors, printer,; keyboards, mice, adaptors; stereos and speakers; VCRs; scanners, fax machines; copiers; telephones and telephone systems; computer wire and cable; computer drives and storage devices (floppy drives, CD ROMs, hard drives); power supplies; circuit boards; scrap copper (cable, pipe, etc.), scrap aluminum; (machine and machine parts, cable extrusions, etc.); UPS (uninterrupted power supply) batteries; and related computer and electronic equipment.
In addition, residents may bring almost any small electronic device with a plug (without Freon) such as coffee makers, toaster ovens, microwaves, and televisions.
The Transfer Station on Four Mile River Road is open Tuesday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. For further information, call 860 434 1605, ext. 212 or 860 434 2337.
