The Old Lyme Historical Society Inc. (OLHSI) will hold its Annual Meeting on Monday, June 12, starting at 6 p.m. at the OLHSI building at 55 Lyme St.
A Special Town Meeting will be held this evening, Monday, June 12, at 7 p.m. in the Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School Auditorium to review the costs, funding sources, project timeline and more regarding the proposed Lymes’ Senior Center expansion.
OLD LYME — On Wednesday, June 21, at 6 p.m., the Southeast Connecticut World Affairs Council (SECWAC) hosts Michael F. Oppenheimer from the New York University (NYU) Center for Global Affairs, who will give a presentation titled, “The Future of US Soft Power in US Foreign Policy.”
The in-person event will be held at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme on Ferry Rd. starting with a reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by the presentation at 6 p.m. An online option will also be available. Attendance is free to SECWAC members and $20 to guests.
Soft Power, defined as our ability to generate support from other states without the threat or use of force, has been considered by most experts as essential to U.S. influence in the world.

OLD LYME — The Florence Griswold Museum has launched a weekly concert series through July featuring local bands and food trucks on the Adrian P. Moore Terrace.
Concerts will be held on Thursday, July 13, and 20, and then the final one will be held on Friday, July 28, and precede this year’s Midsummer Festival.
On July 13, the performers will be the harmonizing duo FrankenPhil and the food truck on site will be Uncle D’s Blazin’ BBQ.
Enjoy food, friends, tunes, and a beautiful summer sunset over the Lieutenant River.
There is no charge for admission. The FloGris explains, “It’s all free to you, as a gift to our friends and neighbors.”


OLD LYME — The Corvettes Doo Wop Revue Band will be performing at the Lymes’ Senior Center, Thursday, July 13, in a free concert starting at 7 p.m., which will be held rain or shine. All are welcome. Bring your chairs, blankets, dinner, etc. — the performances will be held outside on the lawn (weather permitting) or inside if the weather is inclement.
The Corvettes perform the toe-tapping music of the Doo Wop era with a fresh new energy. Their entertaining show and comical stage antics have left many a happy audience yearning for more. In the tradition of legendary Doo Wop revivalists Sha Na Na, every Corvettes show is more than a concert – it’s an all-out Doo Wop Celebration!
A free ice cream social will be held before the July 13 and 27 concerts at 6:30 p.m.

Don’t feel like cooking before the concert? On July 20, the Lyme-Old Lyme Lions Club will have a cookout starting at 6 p.m. Hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, drinks, and chips will be available for purchase on the Lymes’ Senior Center grounds.
Proceeds will benefit the Lions Club Scholarship Fund.
