Old Lyme Police Urge Residents to Lock Cars, Remove Valuables

January 4, 2024 by Admin

OLD LYME — In the wake of what the Old Lyme Police Department (OLPD) describes as, “Multiple vehicles [recently] stolen from Old Lyme and surrounding towns during the overnight hours,” the OLPD has broadcast an urgent message via the Town of Old Lyme Citizens Alert Notification System to all Old Lyme residents.

The OLPD is urging residents not only to lock their vehicles, but also to remove all valuables and keys from them.

The message continues with the following recommendations, which the OLPD strongly advises residents to follow::

• If you have a locked garage, use it.
• Leave your vehicle in a well lit area of your driveway.
• NEVER leave keys in your vehicle.
• NEVER leave valuables in your vehicle.
• If you see any suspicious activity, call 911 immediately.
