LYME — On Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. — the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of the year, which in 1918 marked the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I – the Lyme Veterans Committee held a Veterans Day Ceremony.

Speeches were made.

The ceremony took place at the Lyme Veterans Memorial next to Town Hall.

Salutes were given.

The speaker was Trever Kegley.

Megan Weikleenget sang the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

The audience listened.

The weather was dry, but gusty …

… and the bell on the fire truck was solemnly rung.

It’s heartfelt to see our communities recognizing the sacrifice our service men and women made to keep our country safe
