To the Editor:
Our community is amazing!
The appeal for donations to help keep our Afghan family in Old Lyme has been incredibly successful.
A local family has generously offered a home, at below market price, for the Popals to live in for up to two years. And so many here and
beyond gave generously to help subsidize housing for this family of seven.
The Refugee Resettlement Committee of Lyme/Old Lyme wants to sincerely thank all those who so magnanimously contributed to our appeal and
helped make all this possible.
Our thanks also to the publications, which included LymeLine.com, that did profiles on our family and helped get the word out.
Sincerely,
The Old Lyme Refugee Resettlement Committee,
Old Lyme.

My father, my mother and I traveled to Kabul in September of 1967. My father was a visiting physician in the women’s hospital there. It was an amazing experience and one that I will never forget.
While there, my father was gifted a beautiful robe, the kind with the very long sleeves. I was wondering if the family might like to have this robe? The material is lovely.
