OLD LYME — On Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 5:30 p.m., the public is invited to come and learn about the history of Watch Rock at the Watch Rock Preserve located at Joel Rd. in Old Lyme, off Rte. 156.
Members of the Old Lyme Historical Society will discuss the preserve’s early history and how the Old Lyme Land Trust came to acquire it. Watch Rock is one of Old Lyme’s most beautiful preserves, with views along the rocky shoreline of the Duck River near the mouth of the Connecticut River.
An easy hike along the waterfront will follow the talk for those interested in experiencing the area that the earliest inhabitants of Watch Rock frequented.
The event is free but registration is requested at this link for planning purposes and to inform registrants of any changes resulting from the weather.
This event is sponsored by the Old Lyme Historical Society, the Old Lyme Land Trust, and the Old Lyme-Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library.
