Bid Farewell to Longtime Music Director Arron at Musical Masterworks’ Season Finale, This Afternoon

May 1, 2022 by Admin

Longtime Musical Director Edward Arron will lead his final Musical Masterworks concerts April 30 and May 1 in Old Lyme.

OLD LYME — Musical Masterworks’ 31st season winds to a close this spring with the final performance of Edward Arron in his position as Artistic Director.

Tessa Lark will take over from Arron as Music Director of Musical Masterworks for the 2022-23 season.

While his departure is bittersweet, Musical Masterworks welcomes Tessa Lark as Artistic Director for their upcoming 32nd season, which begins October 2022.

Musical Masterworks will give a special season finale Sunday, May 1, at 3 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme, when Arron and Lark will be joined by pianist Jeewon Park and double bassist Michael Thurber.

The concert will include the following works:

Handel/Halvorsen: Passacaglia for Violin and Cello
Mark O’Connor: Appalachia Waltz for Violin, Cello and Double Bass (1993)
Beethoven: Piano Trio in c minor, Opus 1, No. 3
Rachmaninoff: Sonata in g minor for Cello and Piano, Opus 19

For the health and safety of those in attendance at each concert, Musical Masterworks requires all concertgoers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Booster shots are required for admittance if the last vaccine was more than six months ago and masks must be worn at all times by everyone in attendance.

To purchase individual tickets ($40 each) or student tickets ($5 each), visit Musical Masterworks at www.musicalmasterworks.org or email [email protected].
