Blessing of the Animals at Lyme Church This Morning

October 11, 2020 by Admin

LYME — Lyme Congregational Church holds its Blessing of the Animals this morning at 10 a.m.  The service will be outdoors on the church lawn.  There will be no worship inside the building.

  • The first part of the service will also be on zoom. If you’d like to virtually attend, log in at 10 a.m. to https://us02web.zoom.us/j/3295485601 Meeting ID: 329 548 5601
  • Everyone will sit or stand on the grass (feel free to bring lawn chairs or blankets) with their household units. Keep 6 feet of distance  between households.
  • Bring and wear masks.
  • There will be a very short beginning part with some prayer and scripture.  Then the blessing of the animals will be held. When it’s time for the blessing of the animals, one or more members of the household will raise their hands, and the pastor will come and bless your animal.  The pastor will wear a mask, as well (and has recently tested negative for COVID.)
  • If your animals don’t travel well, or you don’t have animals, feel free to bring a picture or a stuffed-animal stand-in.
  • Animals that do come should be on a leash or in a cage.
  • Everyone is welcome! If you have friends or neighbors that are animal lovers, feel free to invite them.
  • There is no guarantee that blessed animals will be better behaved!
