Superstorm Sandy dominated our Most Read stories of 2012 with three of the top 10 stories featuring news about the major storm that hit Old Lyme in late October, highlighting again that LymeLine is the go-to source for breaking local news.
Other Top 10 Most Read stories include two library-related stories, one about Old Lyme’s Bookwom Ball and a column about the future of libraries by veteran author John Guy LaPlante.
There are also stories about two, now-related, Old Lyme institutions, The Bowerbird and the Old Lyme Inn and, of course, people wanted to know how their neighbors had voted and so our report of the national election results locally drew significant readership.
Sports-related stories filled the remaining three spots with the announcement of a new rowing facility in the center of Old Lyme, which, incidentally, subsequently tanked, the controversial passage of a yet-to-be built athletic facility through Old Lyme’s Zoning Commission and the shock resignations of the two leading members of the Town Woods Operating Committee during a meeting.
