OLD LYME — Marie Fernande Muller (Arsenault) daughter of Juliette Belleveau and Emile Arsenault passed away peacefully Sept. 6, 2021, surrounded by her children.
Born in Bonaventure, Quebec, Canada in 1929, the youngest of 13 children, her childhood years being raised on the family dairy farm which is still in existence today. She enjoyed sharing many stories with her children and grandchildren about life growing up on a farm.
After her primary education in Bonaventure, she went on to study nursing and received her degree from Notre Dame De Liesse – Ecole Puericulture in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1949.
She met and married her late husband, Julian Howard Muller in 1956 and moved to Old Lyme where she raised seven children, primarily on her own after his passing in 1977. She was a truly loving and kind woman who was always in the process of doing something for someone she loved, either her children or a neighbor who wasn’t feeling well.
She was a devout member of Christ the King Church and greatly enjoyed the company of her fellow parishioners who dubbed themselves “The God Squad” at their after mass coffee gatherings. You could find her on any fair weather day, soaking in the sun and fresh salt air at White Sands Beach in her favorite spot by the jetty. To those who knew her, her courage and resilience were a source of inspiration. She will be forever in our hearts.
She is survived by her seven children, Marjorie Ottenbreit, Michelle Muller, Marie McKeon, Howard Muller, Julian Muller Jr., John Muller and Marc Muller; as well as ten grandchildren, George, Michelle, Joshua, Alyssa, Chelsea, Isabelle, Julian III, Sara, Emma, Ryan; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 25, 2021, Christ the King Church in Old Lyme with interment to follow at Duck River Cemetery.
