Old Lyme – Josephine Deveau Benson, 96, of Old Lyme died peacefully May 22, 2021.

Josephine was born Aug. 18, 1924, in New London, the daughter of William and Agnes Deveau. She was a proud veteran of World War II where she served her country as a wave in the United States Navy. She married Robert Eugene Benson Nov. 3, 1945, and started her family of seven children …

She was predeceased by her husband Robert; daughter Vanessa Prevost; son-in-law Richard Hamilton; a brother, Stanley; and four sisters …

She leaves behind Lamont and Debra Benson, Daniel and Carol Benson, Scott Benson, son-in-law Charlie Prevost; and daughters, Pamela Benson, Kathy Sievers and Marty Macha, Mary-Dawn Hamilton; and sisters, Marie St. Pierre and Barbara Leger. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren …
