Senior standout Chase Gilbert won two events and set a meet record in the 1,000 meters at Saturday's event.
Conference titles in the 1,000 meters, 600 meters and sprint medley relay, plus a championship shot put throw, highlighted Lyme-Old Lyme’s showing at Saturday’s meet.
Considered one of the top honors in high school sports, the award celebrates athletes across the country for excellence in their sport, academics and community service.
Led by nationally ranked senior Chase Gilbert, members of the Lyme-Old Lyme High School men’s and women’s varsity track and field teams delivered several strong performances.
Gilbert’s time of 17:50.08 made her the fastest female runner among high schools of any size at the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference event.
