Letter to the Editor: Berke’s Diversity of Expertise Will Benefit Region 18
A former school administrator cites Devin Berke’s accounting and management experience as reasons to vote for him in the Region 18 special election.
To the Editor:
I am writing in support of Devin Berke, candidate for the Board of Education (BOE) in Old Lyme. As a former school administrator, I am well aware of what a town needs to have a successful, collaborative BOE to lead a highly effective school district.
Devin is the parent of a second grader, so he knows the school and the school district well. He is an active part of the community. He is trusted. A BOE needs to have diversity of expertise to effectively manage board activity. Devin has an accounting background, which is something the board is lacking. He has also been a manager in the field of construction for 15 years, adding to expertise that can benefit the board.
Devin is humble, respectful, hardworking, willing to serve, and very approachable. He will be a great fit for the current BOE. With his accounting background, I know he will help the board with its fiscal accountability, ensuring the taxpayers have their money spent wisely while maintaining the quality of our schools.
I hope everyone will attend the Town Meeting on Oct. 6 to vote for Devin Berke as the next member of the Board of Education. I give him my unequivocal endorsement.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Tracy
