Letter to the Editor: Labriola is Independent Voice for 23rd District

An Old Lyme resident said Barbara Labriola is focused on practical, local solutions rather than partisan dictates.

To the Editor:

As residents of Old Lyme consider who should represent us in Hartford for the 23rd House District, one quality stands above the rest: genuine independence. That is precisely why I am writing to express my enthusiastic support for Barbara Labriola for state representative.

In today’s political climate, far too many representatives put party line politics ahead of the communities they are elected to serve. Barbara Labriola offers a refreshing and necessary alternative. Cross-endorsed by the Independent Party of Connecticut, Barbara has proven that her focus is strictly on practical, local solutions rather than partisan dictates.

Her extensive background in municipal government – including her service as Old Saybrook Town Treasurer and her previous work as a town clerk – demonstrates a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility, transparency, and practical governance. Barbara understands that shoreline communities like Old Lyme need a strong advocate who will fight to protect local control over zoning and education, work to make Connecticut affordable, stand up for public safety, and ensure state mandates don’t undermine our town’s unique character.

We need a leader in Hartford who will listen to residents across the political spectrum and make thoughtful, principled decisions. Barbara Labriola has the experience, work ethic, and independent spirit to represent Old Lyme and the 23rd District with integrity.

I urge my fellow voters to join me in supporting Barbara Labriola this election.

Sincerely,
Barry L. Harrison (U.S. Navy, Ret.)
Old Lyme
