Old Lyme Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony Set for May 25

OLD LYME, CT – The town’s annual Memorial Day parade will step off at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 25, from the Lyme Street Firehouse and continue to the Duck River Cemetery for the traditional holiday observance.

The parade is sponsored by the Town of Old Lyme, the Old Lyme Fire Department, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1467 and American Legion Post 41.

Organizers said the parade will include a C-130 flyover and an honor detail sponsored by the Connecticut Army and Air National Guard, along with VFW Post 1467.

The Lymes’ Youth Service Bureau is inviting children and families to march in the parade with decorated bikes, scooters, wagons, strollers, and other non-motorized wheeled vehicles. Participants should meet at 10:30 a.m. near the middle school tennis courts behind the large illuminated sign.

The Old Lyme Historical Society will also hold a Memorial Day open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring exhibits of memorabilia and commemorative items.
