OLD LYME, CT – The Old Lyme Zoning Commission is inviting residents, property owners, business owners and other community members to participate in an interactive Housing and Residential Zoning Workshop on Wednesday, July 29, at 6:30 p.m. at Old Lyme Town Hall.

The town in a news release said the workshop will focus on how zoning can help preserve Old Lyme’s neighborhoods while addressing future housing needs.

The workshop is part of the commission’s comprehensive rewrite of town zoning regulations, which is expected to continue through the first part of next year.

Among the questions to be discussed is whether there’s a need “to better support the development of housing,” according to the event flyer.

Discussion topics will include:

  • Housing and residential zoning
  • Strategies to support future housing needs
  • Preserving neighborhoods and community character
  • Priorities for residential areas

The Zoning Commission is also encouraging residents to complete the town’s online zoning survey, which seeks public input on a range of zoning topics including housing, commercial zoning, parking, sign regulations, environmental considerations and other issues.
