Lyme-Old Lyme Senior Softball Moves Closer to State Championship Series
The Lyme-Old Lyme Senior Softball All-Stars remain undefeated in tournament play after an 8-0 victory over Enfield Seniors Wednesday at Brainard Memorial Park.
ENFIELD, CT – The Lyme-Old Lyme Senior Softball All-Stars earned an 8-0 victory over Enfield Seniors on Wednesday at Brainard Memorial Park in Enfield during the semifinals of the Connecticut Little League Senior Softball Tournament.
Lyme-Old Lyme (2-0) will face Bristol (1-1) on Thursday in the final round of four-team tournament play. The top two teams will advance to the best-of-three state championship series, scheduled for July 15-16.
Pitcher Bea Aldana allowed only six hits over six innings in the shutout, according to results reported by the team.
The Wildcats, made up of players from Lyme, Old Lyme, Essex, Deep River, Chester and Montville, scored their first run in the second inning on an RBI single by Brooke Ouellette and added another in the third when Avery Goiangos hit an inside-the-park home run.
Lyme-Old Lyme finished with eight hits. Ayanaliz Cruz went 3-for-3, while Goiangos went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
The Wildcats also played error-free defense and turned two double plays.
Enfield stands at 1-1 in the semifinals, while Haddam-Killingworth is 0-2.
Thursday’s 8 p.m. game against Bristol will be held at the Waterford Little League fields on Gardiners Wood Road.
The team is vying for second consecutive trip to the Little League Softball World Series.
