Lecture Brings Florence Griswold’s Story to Life at Lyme Public Library, May 16

Learn how Florence Griswold helped shape the artist colony that still defines Old Lyme’s cultural identity.

LYME, CT – Learn about the life and legacy of Florence Griswold at the Lyme Public Library on May 16. 

The 2 p.m. presentation by Fred Verillo will explore how artists were drawn to the area at the turn of the 20th century, forming a major American art colony centered at the Old Lyme home that came to be known as the “Giverny of America.”

The illustrated lecture will highlight Griswold, her boarding house and the guests that turned Old Lyme into a hub for artistic and intellectual pursuits.
