Stars & Stripes Talk Coming to Old Lyme Historical Society, May 14
Artist James Meehan will trace the evolution and symbolism of the U.S. flag from 1777 to today.

OLD LYME, CT – As the nation continues the countdown to its 250th anniversary, join the Old Lyme Historical Society to learn about the evolution of the United States flag.
The historical society will present “History of the Stars & Stripes” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, at its 55 Lyme St. headquarters.
Artist and antiquarian James Meehan will use examples to trace design changes and symbolism from June 14, 1777, through major historical events into the 21st century. The talk will also explore how the flag has been represented in American painting, photography and commercial art.
The presentation is part of the society’s lineup of events marking the nation’s 250th anniversary. Donations are welcome.
