Musical Masterworks Presents Bassist Meyer, Pianist Yang in Old Lyme Concert, This Weekend

Musical Masterworks will continue its 35th anniversary season with two performances at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme.

Bassist and composer Edgar Meyer and pianist Amy Yang will perform Dec. 6 and 7 as part of Musical Masterworks’ 35th season.

OLD LYME–Musical Masterworks will continue its 35th anniversary season in December with two performances featuring Edgar Meyer and Amy Yang at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme.

Tickets are available for performances on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m.

Musical Masterworks bills Meyer, a Grammy-winning bass virtuoso, and Yang, a world-class pianist, as “pure musical magic.” The organization promises classical elegance and bold new sounds in a program curated by Meyer.

The group said Meyer is the only bassist to be awarded both the Avery Fisher Prize and MacArthur Grant. He was honored last year with his sixth and seventh Grammy awards for “As We Speak,” the second album released with Bela Fleck, Zakir Hussain and Rakesh Chaurasia.

Yang serves as director of chamber music and piano studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, PA. She has appeared in leading series and festivals including Carnegie Hall, Spoleto, Santa Fe Chamber Music, Bridgehampton, Norfolk and Chamberfest Cleveland. As an advocate for healing through music, she has performed for patients at Penn Memory Center and hospital intensive care units.

Musical Masterworks’ 35th season runs from October 2025 through April 2026.

Tickets are $45 each, with a discounted student rate of $5. To purchase, visit Musical Masterworks at www.musicalmasterworks.org
