Children’s Book Illustrator Juana Martinez-Neal Brings The Sahara to Life at Lyme Art Association, Today
This holiday season, the Lyme Art Association invites the community to celebrate art and togetherness with a series of exhibitions and events for all ages.

OLD LYME, CT — This holiday season, the Lyme Art Association invites the community to celebrate art and togetherness with a series of exhibitions and events for all ages.
Families are invited to the gallery for the art program Represent! on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 12:30 to 2 p.m., featuring Juana Martinez-Neal, illustrator of A Gift of Dust: How Saharan Plumes Feed the Planet.
Martinez-Neal will talk about her conservation work in Africa. The presentation is followed by a story time for kids and a holiday art activity.
Sounds of the Season will fill the galleries with holiday cheer through a live music series. Visitors will hear the melodies of Kipp Sturgeon on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Throughout the season, the gallery is offering warm drinks, cookies, and hands-on art activities each weekend.
Visitors through Jan. 1 can enjoy four new exhibitions: Deck the Walls; Inside Story; Faripour Forouhar’s solo show, A Life’s Journey Through Paintings; and the 3-D pieces from the Society of Connecticut Sculptors, which offer an inspiring mix of fine art, sculpture, and unique gift opportunities.
The Lyme Art Association is located at 90 Lyme Street and is open Tuesday – Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome.
