Betty Maerz, 95, died July 30 at home in Riverview, Fla. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Aug. 12 in Essex, followed by burial at Duck River Cemetery in Old Lyme.
The longtime Connecticut College professor and French literature scholar, who called Lyme home for many years, died July 27 at age 75.
Born in the 1920s, she knew the hardships of the Great Depression and World War II, and marvelled at unimaginable discoveries in science and technology.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. July 20, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. July 21 at Shoreline Church in Old Lyme.
Nancy will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, her quiet strength, and a deep love for her family. She found joy in everyday moments, and her greatest joy was her family.
A lifelong engagement with poetry complemented D'Arista's career in economic policy and academic research, culminating in a recent memoir.
Susan S. Campbell, 82, a deeply community-oriented mother and grandmother, passed away on May 21.
Watson Shallcross Coverdale Jr., 93, died June 10 in Niantic. He is survived by two sons and five grandchildren.
Mary is remembered for her joie de vivre and the way she made everyone she met feel seen, valued and understood.
