LYME, CT – Lyme Public Hall will host a six-week writers seminar led by Janet Roach on Mondays from 6 to 8 p.m. starting in October.

The series runs from Oct. 12 through Nov. 16.

Organizers said the series will focus on character development and plotting as Roach guides “accomplished writers and the newest wannabes to explore matters of the heart, contemporary issues, historical events, family sagas and more.”

Participants will complete weekly writing assignments and receive individual feedback on their work.

Roach’s career has included work as a newspaper and magazine writer, poet, screenwriter and producer. She was a producer and writer for 60 Minutes, worked with Bill Moyers at CBS, earned an Academy Award nomination for her screenwriting work on Prizzi’s Honor, and taught screenwriting at Columbia University’s Graduate School of the Arts for nearly 20 years. She currently writes for Estuary Magazine and is working on a memoir and a new film project.

Enrollment is limited to 10 students. The cost is $125, or $100 for Lyme Public Hall members.
