Arts Notes: Concerts, Exhibitions and Auditions Across the Region
From world premieres in East Haddam to choral auditions in New London and Old Saybrook, area organizations are inviting the public to experience and participate in the arts.

Several regional arts organizations are announcing August events, performances and opportunities for participation.
I-Park Concerts
I-Park, an artists-in-residence program in East Haddam, is preparing for two upcoming concerts featuring five new compositions created during its August music residency.
The concerts will showcase the work of five composers performed by ensemble-in-residence Latitude 49, according to a news release. I-Park said the concerts are the culmination of a 10-day residency in East Haddam that provided the ensemble and composers with a chance to refine compositions, reimagine them and take artistic risks in bringing the music to life.
Latitude 49 is described by I-Park as a “dynamic group known for blending the finesse of a classical ensemble with the drive and precision of a finely tuned rock band.” The performance will take place Friday, Aug. 21, at 6 p.m. In-person tickets with a post concert reception are $45, or purchase a livestream ticket for $10.00.
The ensemble will take its show on the road Sunday, Aug. 23, for a 3 p.m. performance at Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center in New York City.
I-Park also thanked community members who have supported recovery efforts following a severe storm system on July 4 that damaged trails and led to the cancellation of its Open Trails and Music event. Volunteers are still needed for trail maintenance, garden care and upcoming events.
More information and tickets are available at i-park.org.
IMAGES Photography Exhibition
Shoreline Arts Alliance will present its 46th Annual IMAGES Photography Exhibition Aug. 8-30 at Kehler Liddell Gallery in New Haven. The juried exhibition features selected works from photographers across Connecticut.
The exhibition opens with a reception Saturday, Aug. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. A gallery talk with juror Jessica Roscio will be held Sunday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m. More information is available at shorelinearts.org.
Area Choir Auditions
The Anglican Singers, artists-in-residence at St. James Episcopal Church in New London, are holding auditions for experienced singers in all voice parts, with a particular need for tenors. Rehearsals begin in late August and continue through May. There is a $150 fee for annual dues and travel costs for members. Interested singers can contact Music Director Simon Holt at smo.artisticdirector@yahoo.com. More information is available on the Anglican Singers’ website.
Con Brio Choral Society will hold auditions Monday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in Old Saybrook. The auditioned classical chorus, which draws singers from communities throughout the shoreline and Connecticut River Valley, rehearses Monday evenings from September through April.
