OLD LYME, CT – This Halloween, First Congregational Church of Old Lyme will host a free, public screening of a classic silent horror film with live organ accompaniment by Robert Humphreville.

The church, at the corner of Ferry Road and Lyme Street, will show The Phantom of the Opera on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 6:30 p.m.

The story follows a disfigured musician who hides in the dungeons beneath the Paris Opera and falls in love with a young singer, luring her to his secret lair.

The meetinghouse will glow with red and orange lighting aimed at the ceiling to set the Halloween mood. Popcorn and beverages will be available.

Organizers said the church is introducing the event this year and hopes to make it an annual tradition if it proves popular.
