Lyme-Old Lyme High School Basketball Teams Split Games Against Portland
Local high school basketball on Thursday came down to a decisive, season opening win for the Lyme-Old Lyme High School boys and a hard fought loss for the girls.
OLD LYME, CT – Local high school basketball on Thursday came down to a decisive, season opening win for the Lyme-Old Lyme High School boys and a hard fought loss for the girls.
The boys posted a 92-34 victory against the Portland Highlanders at home. Ethan Trepanier led the Wildcats with 14 points, followed by Will McKeever with 12 and Ryan Hill with 11. Brady Daggert scored 10 points for Portland. Old Lyme will travel to Coginchaug High School today for a 3 p.m. game.
The girls traveled to Portland for what Coach Christine Corah called “an absolute battle” that ended in a 40-33 loss for the Wildcats. Sybil Neary led Lyme-Old Lyme with 19 points, while Jillian Kleefeld, Vicky Glaras, Lily Reynolds and Vivian Boller added to a strong defensive performance. Corah said the consistently close game came down to the final two minutes of play.
The girls next play Coginchaug Monday at 5:30 p.m. in Old Lyme.
