CANCELED: Online Open House to Explain Zoning Regulation Updates in Old Lyme
The event was planned to help residents understand an initial round of largely technical changes to the regulations. It will not be rescheduled.
OLD LYME, CT (Updated 2:30 p.m., Jan. 27) – A virtual open house initially set for Saturday to discuss proposed changes to the town’s zoning regulations has been canceled.
Land use technician Craig Bonatti said Tuesday the event, which was canceled due to a scheduling conflict, will not be rescheduled.
With a comprehensive rewrite of its zoning regulations underway, the town had scheduled the open house to help residents understand an initial round of largely technical changes proposed in consultation with the planning and design firm FHI Studio, now known as IMEG.
The Zoning Commission is expected to vote on the revisions Feb. 9. There will be an opportunity that evening for public comment.

The Zoning Commission and IMEG have been working since last spring to bring the regulations into compliance with current state law, reorganize sections and remove outdated language.
The largely technical changes comprise the first phase of the process. Officials emphasized the revisions are not intended to change the type of development allowed in town.
The second phase of the revision process is expected to begin in the spring with a more sweeping review of the regulations, including opportunities for individuals and groups to share input on what the regulations should allow.
The review process is expected to run through the summer. Adoption of the updated regulations is targeted for late 2026 or early 2027.
