Hadlyme Public Hall Revives Favorite Tradition with Artists & Friends Art Show, Oct. 9-11

LYME, CT – The 2026 Artists & Friends Art Show will return to Hadlyme Public Hall Oct. 9-11, continuing a tradition of community art exhibitions that drew visitors from across southeastern Connecticut for more than a decade.

The show will feature work by regional artists including folk artist Mary Maguire and landscape painter Barbara Lussier. Debra Schmidt Bach, director of exhibitions at Mystic Seaport Museum, helped develop the show. Longtime organizer Linda Elgart, known for her rooster paintings, is serving as an adviser and exhibitor.

The show, featuring paintings, photography and pottery, is free to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11.

An opening reception for public hall members and invited guests will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9. Admission is $20, and reservations are required. For information on becoming a member, visit the Hadlyme Public Hall website.

Organizers said proceeds from the fundraiser will support building improvements, including accessibility upgrades to the 115-year-old hall.

Hadlyme Public Hall, built in 1911, is one of only three surviving public halls in Connecticut and continues to serve as a community gathering place.
