OLD LYME, CT – Residents, property owners, business owners and other community members are being asked to weigh in on a broad zoning update underway in town — including through a new online survey.

The survey is part of the Old Lyme Zoning Commission’s comprehensive rewrite of town zoning regulations, which is moving into Phase Two and is expected to continue through the winter. It asks respondents about a wide range of topics, including residential and commercial zoning, parking requirements, sign regulations and environmental standards.

The town in a press release said community input will help guide the development of updated zoning regulations intended to reflect Old Lyme’s long-term priorities and vision.

In addition to the survey, the commission will hold the first of three public workshops focused on the update at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at Old Lyme Memorial Town Hall, 52 Lyme St.

The inaugural session will center on environmental regulations and how zoning can be used to protect drinking water supplies, manage stormwater, improve flood and drought resilience, preserve open space and coastal resources and maintain scenic and cultural landscapes. Officials say the goal is to gather community input on how regulations can be updated to address changing environmental conditions.

Future workshops will focus on housing and commercial zoning issues.

More information on the zoning update is available on the town website.
