Letter to the Editor: Griffith Will Bring Recent Student Perspective to Region 18 Board
This letter writer cites Emma Griffith’s recent experience in Lyme-Old Lyme schools and willingness to listen and learn as key qualifications for the open school board seat.
To the Editor:
I am writing to express my support for Emma Griffith in the upcoming Region 18 Board of Education special election.
I’ve had the opportunity to see firsthand the dedication, determination and thoughtfulness she brings to everything she does. Whether it’s her education, career or involvement in the community, Emma has always been someone who puts genuine effort into the things that matter to her.
Having grown up attending Lyme-Old Lyme schools and recently graduating from the University of Connecticut with a degree in mechanical engineering, Emma brings a perspective that I believe is especially valuable. She understands our school system not just as a community member, but as someone who was sitting in those classrooms only a few years ago.
I believe one of Emma’s greatest strengths is her willingness to listen, learn and approach challenges with an open mind. I have seen her execute firsthand throughout her education, and now her career. She brings a fresh perspective that would serve our Board of Education well. As someone who also grew up attending Lyme-Old Lyme schools from kindergarten through high school, our schools have a tremendous and valuable impact on the future of our community, and I believe there is real necessity in bringing a younger, more recent student perspective to the table. Emma isn’t looking to change what makes Lyme-Old Lyme schools special. She wants to help build upon the opportunities that helped shape her own future.
I’m proud of Emma for stepping forward to serve the community she grew up in, and I hope you’ll join me in supporting Emma Griffith for the Region 18 Board of Education at 6 p.m. on Nov. 10 at Lyme Consolidated School.
Sincerely,
Nick Adeletti
