Letter to the Editor: Campbell is Prepared, Professional and Deeply Invested

To the Editor:

I am proud to write in strong support of Brandy Campbell for the Region 18 Board of Education. Our schools need leaders who bring a balanced mix of empirical objectivity, academic dedication and a demonstrated commitment to local public service. Brandy uniquely embodies all three.

Her dedication to our town has already been proven through her excellent track record on the Conservation Commission. She has been a valued member, the co-chair, and now serves as the current chairman. In that role, Brandy has consistently demonstrated her ability to collaborate, listen to community input and make forward-thinking decisions that protect our town’s resources. She understands how town government operates, how to juggle a family and public responsibilities, and how to work constructively with others to get things done. 

Professionally, Brandy brings a precise analytical skill set that our school board needs right now. As a licensed veterinarian (DVM) and a scientist in the pharmaceutical development industry, she is highly trained in evidence-based decision-making. Her extensive scientific training means she is uniquely equipped to look at district problems through an objective lens, analyzing complex data, asking rigorous questions and making choices based on objective facts and evidence.

Furthermore, her academic credentials speak to her deep appreciation for high-quality instruction and personal work ethic. Holding a doctorate in veterinary medicine, she knows firsthand the doors that a strong STEM and educational foundation can open. As a mom with two children currently thriving in our school system, she has a direct, personal stake in ensuring our public schools continue to provide that same high level of academic excellence for every student.

Brandy Campbell is prepared, professional and deeply invested in the future of our children and our community. Please join me in lending your support and voting for her on Oct. 6, 6 p.m., at the Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School.
