Next Up: Old Lyme Seeks Public Input on Commercial, Industrial and Waterfront Zoning, Sept. 15

OLD LYME, CT – The community will have a chance to weigh in on the future of commercial and waterfront development in Old Lyme at a zoning workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The workshop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Lymes’ Senior Center, 26 Town Woods Road.

The workshop, hosted by the town as part of its ongoing update of local zoning regulations, will focus on commercial, industrial and waterfront zones. A previous workshop on residential housing drew more than 80 people for a spirited discussion on what, if anything, needs to change in town.

The town is also encouraging residents to complete an online zoning survey covering a range of topics, including residential zoning and housing, commercial zoning, parking requirements, sign regulations and environmental protections. The survey is available online.

The Sept. 15 workshop is billed by the land use department as an “opportunity for the public to help shape policies that will influence the Town’s future” when it comes to businesses and waterfront properties.

Topics will include a review of existing commercial, industrial and waterfront zones; discussion of current challenges; potential zoning strategies “to support the productive use” of property; and community priorities for the areas.
